The Thursday Night Club by Steven Manchester

Publish Date November 18 by The Story Plant

Five college friends, three men and two women, have been getting together every Thursday night to share humble meals and an abundance of laughter. But when tragedy takes one of them, leaving the others to question the fairness of life, theThursday Night Club decides to embark on a contest in the memory of the generous spirit of their fallen brother. The objective of the contest is simple: whoever performs the kindest deed by Christmas night wins the pot – four quarters. And there are only two conditions: the benevolent deed must be anonymous, and it cannot cost a single penny to pull off.

As the four friends undertake the contest, the healing begins and they become inspired beyond their expectations. There might be a winner in this competition, but it is very clear there will be no losers.

My Thoughts…

Steven Manchester is an author that every time I pick up one of his books I am sure that I will find a touching and loving story.  The Thursday Night Club is exactly that.   It is a great story of amazing friends that when faced with the loss of a friend steps up and make changes in their lives.   I cannot choose my favorite character as each was unique in their own way.    Each character had their own history and still manages to make it to college and succeed.

As each character makes their choices, or in most cases the choices chose them, on how to keep their friends spirit alive I could feel them come to terms with themselves and realize that there is more to life than having fun.   That by giving and helping others they can actually make themselves happier and make such a huge difference in stranger’s lives.    They even realized that, although it is a competition, being anonymous brings even more happiness to them.

Once again, Steven Manchester captured my attention and left me with a great feeling.  I will happily recommend this story.
